Relationship Ingredients: What should relationships have
Apr 02, 2019I am West Island Montreal Psychologist Marianne Van Oyen and in my practice, I have couples who struggle with relationships.
They can be tricky yet they can be very rewarding and fulfilling at the same time. It really depends on what ingredients your relationship has and what you are looking (and not looking ) for.
As a woman I have experienced and seen the consequences of negative relationship ingredients.
Like any recipe, if you are baking a cake with rotten eggs, or no sugar, or a mixture of substances that don’t work you will not have a yummy product in the end, or worse, it could make you really sick!
The same goes for relationships.
Negative relationship ingredients are toxic! They can cause stress, depression, low self-esteem, worry, insecurity and even physical illness. Sometimes this is the intention of your partner but it can even happen to you unintentionally, just because you and your partner simply do not not see eye to eye or you don’t want the same things in life and this creates too many conflicts. It can happen to the best of people yet it can happen. As a Montreal Psychologist, my job is to help people wake up to see that these things can happen.
Positive relationship ingredients obviously will create a positive and satisfying relationship but you have to know what you want and what you are looking for.
You have to be able to accept who your partner or potential partner is so that you know what you are getting into.
If the relationship ingredients are good, then you will have a pleasant or even better, an amazing relationship.
It is my job as a West Island Montreal Psychologist to help you find what you are looking for.
There are many ways to do this but you need to know what you want and don’t want in a relationship.
What are your relationship ingredients?
