Part of the awareness process is knowing that you have a problem: Identifying what it is and how it is impacting your life. This can lead to the three A’s: admit, accept and act in your search for self-awareness.
It is important to admit that you have a problem however just admitting it doesn’t change anything.
Acceptance is the next step as it allows you to look at what you can change and what aspects of the problem you can’t change.
The third step in your search for self-awareness is to determine a plan of action, be that to seek help from a therapist, join a group, read a book and make specific decisions to help solve the problem.
So many of us are aware that we are tired and overwhelmed but we do not know why.
Rather, we put pressure on ourselves to keep up with our unconscious expectations and the expectations of others.
Only upon an exploration of how we are living or surviving our life, do we begin to see what is happening and how we are not in control.
We need to stop letting ourselves be yanked and pulled by obligations and people.
We need to stop the belief that we should continue to push ourselves and keep up with the expectations that lay before us.
This is becoming an epidemic.
In our search for self-awareness, we need to recognize problems and accept responsibility for our role in this charade. We have to accept that we have to put into place everything and anything we can do to make changes and then take the appropriate actions to follow through on making our life better for our sake and the sake of our families.
